'Happy with my fitness' - Razmar

Mohammed Razmar, the Dubai Zahirians medium facer batsman said he is happy with his fitness and the next step in his recovery from injury is putting bat to ball again.Razmar missed the few last series due to his vacation and knee problems. He has been named in the side that will take on Colombo Lions in a two matches series starting October 29 in Sharjah.

"It's important to get back into the rhythm," told the Official page in an chat. "I have increased my batting time at the srilanka and am happy with my fitness." it was very frustrating to sit in home and watch Zahirians playing. To be honest, missing out on a game after being dropped feels bad but to sit out with injury and watch other people play feels even worse." "It is not just about playing the every game in future but it's about being in good form and being absolutely fit. I plan to build on it from this Colombo Lions serie

The biggest challenge, according to him, will be starting from scratch after the layoff. "When you go out to bat in a match after a long break, you just try to test if you still have the old touch. When you come back from a break, you need time to get used to things around you. If you look, I haven't played much in the last month. It's a challenge that I am now looking forward to meet."

Dubai Zahirians (probable) : 1.Dasthakir (c), 2.Rasmi (wk), 3.Razmar, 4.Faris, 5.Haithar, 6.Nazeer, 7.Fayas, 8.Ayyub, 9.Shadeek, 10.Hillal, 11.Nawshard.

Haithar to miss next game in Sharjah

Mohammed Haithar the Dubai Zahirians Valuble all-rounder, will not take part in next series in Sharjah against Colombo Lions in Veg Market ground on thursday and could miss the subsequent upcomming few series. The fast bowler and batsman has a "mild to moderate ankle sprain", said team selector Mohammed Anas.

Haithar, sustained the injury while fielding, after bowling just two overs in the triangular series-2010 He was taken off the park and had an ice pack applied to his right ankle immediately. "The players did the right thing by icing him quickly because he has had problems with his ankle in the past," he previously suffered an ankle injury in December 2009, when he fell on his ankle after bowling the first ball in a tour match against Shiba Riders in Nad-al-Shiba.The injury, according to club, has been diagnosed Grade One or Two but a more thorough conclusion will be reached on Wednesday. Haithar will undergo a scan in Satwa, where the squad will be preparing for the series against Colombo Lions, which starts on October 28.

"He is going to stay with the team, although we expect him to be out for 7 to 10 days, which means he may miss the two matches against Colombo Lions,"anas said, Should that happen it would leave Dubai Zahirans without their two premier strike bowlers, since Ziyad is still recovering from concussion and swelling on the lower back, He said more the idea is to have both bowlers fit in time to play soon as possible.Mohammed Fasir is the most likely candidate to replace Haithar in Sharjah starting eleven.

Rasmi the new replacement what a time he have with zahirians in last few weeks, his third fifty was came on right time in Triangular Series 2010 ,

The match had been set up by an excellent batting performance from the DubaiZahirians top order, AJB need a 42 runs in 3 overs was a good stand for them, no one else can do better more then Hillal's dead over in that situation just 2 runs for three wickets what a performer is he????

Nazeer returns to DZCC

Dubai Zahirians have announced a 15-man squad to take Shiba Riders on Nad-Al-Shiba in two 10 overs games later this month, but surprisingly not named Siraj,Razeen and Arafath. Razeen has been - in Srilanka for his Vacation, notwithstanding - the limited-overs Vice captain since April this year and is in but not yet as player for this tour.

The other surprise is the return, yet again, of Mohammed Nazeer to bolster the middle order and bowling line. Nazeer was dropped from the set-up after the tour of WLP earlier in the year due to vacation.as the selectors looked to move towards younger options. But an impressive Man-of-the-Tournament performance in Zahira maybe impressive the selectors too.

The team will also be without Mohammed Siraj who has just undergone an appendicitis operation in srilanka. Mohammed Rasmi, who replaced Siraj for one game in the summer against JET11 and scored a valiant 58, has been given an opportunity to build on that first impression. DZCC will already be without two key short format players in Mohammed Rikaz and Mohammad Ziyad, both of whom are out of UAE. There continues to be no place in the side for a pair, Mohammed Haithar and Mohammed Faris.and Mohammed Nisar the new player he ready to play his first tour with dubai zahirians.

Mohammed Arafath Seeking the rest due to his vacation too, so he is ruled out for the DZCC former Captain Nazeer's returns.team selecters said that "bowlers want to be stand in nad-al-shiba because of the condition they going to play; so we thought nazeer going to be a good change for sutable shiba" No selector was available to comment on the decision.

Dubai Zahirians (probable) : 1.Dasthakir (c), 2.Rasmi (wk), 3.Nisar, 4.Faris, 5.Haithar, 6.Nazeer, 7.Fayas, 8.Ayyub, 9.Shadeek, 10.Roshan, 11.Nawshard, 12.Razmar, 13.Rimaz, 14.Saflin and 15.Hillal

Responsible Hillal looks to step up

Mohammed Hillal, the Dubai Zahirians Fast Bowler, is keen to put behind him the hugely unsuccessful tour of Srilankan championship and do justice to his leadership role in the two-short format games against same JBS SC in same venue this friday october 08.

In the three Matches against in Jumairah last week, Hillal's series figures of 4 for 76, and seemed to have lost both his accuracy and swing."I had taken the responsibility [of leading the DZCC pace attack] a few years ago," Hillal said. "I probably didn't handle it so well in jumairah, but since then I have improved. "Another area where I want to improve on this trip is the leadership role - try and show the younger guys, whether it is in a training session or in the middle, the way Zahirians cricket is played. The young guys we have got are very good listeners. They are very keen to learn from the leaders of the group."

Zahirians will need the best of Hillal because none of the other specialist fast men has played a game in jumairah. Shane Mohammed Faris and Mohammed Haithar are the only ones to have bowled in last week.Hillal said it wouldn't be easy, but they were going to enjoy the challenge. "Coming over here is a huge challenge," he said. "Against JBSSC as the No. 1 side, and the calibre of players they have got. Rukshan, Rilwan, Ziyad. They have got a great bowling attack as well. There is Mendi."It is a huge challenge coming up against them, no matter what ranking they are. It doesn't matter what ranking we are as well. I just know it is going to be a tough tour for us. We are looking to make it tough for them as well."

Watch out for...
Mohammed Faris has made his name in the limited-overs game with a series of match winning innings last week in same venue. The challenge for faris is to focus his energy into building long innings, although one match against Frico SC won't push him to his limits.

Dubai Zahirians (probable) : 1.Dasthakir (c), 2.Arafath (wk), 3.Hillal, 4.Faris, 5.Haithar, 6.Rasmi, 7.Fayas, 8.Ayyub, 9.Shadeek, 10.Roshan and 11.Nawshard.

Pitch and Conditions
there was more swing than antone expected in the last game and this game will be played on the same surface so the seamers are likely to be key again.

Faris expects quicks to swing

Mohammed Faris the Dubai Zahirians All-rounder, has said quick bowlers will relish bowling on the fresh pitches in Jumairah So during the Srilankan Championship 2010 . He has been in top form this year, reclaiming a regular place in Zahirians's limited-overs sides and sending down one of the fastest deliveries just following Mohammed Hillal.

"Dubai Zahirians's always traditionally been a good place to bowl quick," Faris said. "I think the wickets usually offer quite a bit, and some of the grounds offer altitude, where the ball reportedly travels quicker through the air. I think the fast bowlers are licking their lips."

Mohammed Faris expected stiff competition in the Srilankan Championship, and didn't think the cash-rich teams will have an edge in the tournament. "It's a good chance for all the qulifited clubs to put their best players on the park and see how they measure up against each other," he said. "They have the big-gun players and the Sri Lankan teams are pretty talented themselves, so it's a big raffle about who's going to make the final." when we are playing.

The Dubai Zahirians went down by five wickets to JBS SC in their final game on Friday in Srilankan Championship. They kick off their campaign against same team on Sunday and also have Lankan Boys, Ajman Riders and Jet11 SC in their future fixings.

Zahirians Finished as Runner-up's

Innovations in the Srilankan Chempionship

It was survival instinct that drove players to look for cutting-edge tactics at the recently concluded Srilankan Championship. The second tournament has been nothing short of a discovery : unsettling yet determined shots, novel field positions and a whole new bag of tricks from the bowlers to hold them in good stead. That's what made the SCC a good show. Despite some ordinary cricket, there were also some splashes of brilliance. Here are our observations from the tournament.

Starting with the three fielder's inside the circle

teams had the three fielder inside the ring and pushed the square-leg fielder back to the boundary right from the beginning. This is not how teams have traditionally begun innings, preferring instead to have the fielder beside the square-leg umpire save singles and the fine leg, though slightly squarer, back on the boundary.bowlers don’t mind conceding singles because a single is as good as a dot ball in short format cricket.

Bowling short

There was plenty of the short-pitched stuff throughout the innings. Yes, the extra bounce on Jumairah pitches may have encouraged the bowlers to bang it in short but that's not the only reason. Most batsmen, regardless of there clubs, were in obvious discomfort against chin music. While the Frico from Ajman used it to good effect against the Zahirians, Mohammed Faris bowled at least a foot shorter against LKS SC. The more you see matches in these conditions, the clearer it becomes that it’s not only the batsmen from the Dubai's Club who aren’t great players of short-pitched stuff and that they have company. No bowler can get away with bowling just one-dimensional short-pitched stuff, though, but there is no harm in making the batsman smell leather every now and then.

 Playing straight

The teams from Dubai and Ajman have taught a lesson in batting to the rest of the sides only if they choose to notice. While the players from these clubs are good off the back foot and play horizontal bat shots, they have shown the value of hitting straight down the ground with a vertical bat, as opposed to their counterparts from the clubs who are guilty of looking to score only square of the wicket. Yes, there’s bounce to deal with but a half volley is a half volley on all surfaces and should be hit straight. Also, since teams keep the mid-off and mid-on fielder really wide on bouncy surfaces, there’s a huge gap in the front to get maximum value for shots. Dubai teams are yet to utilise this to its full potential.
