Captain Returns on Big Stage

The demotion of opening batsman Mohammed Shamil to the reserves and the inclusion of skipper Mohammed Dasthakir are among a host of changes in Zahirians's BIG BATTLE - 2012 squad against JET X1 Sports Club on comming friday in Wonderland Park. Zahirians's selectors have dropped four of the 15 players who were part of the last series against North Idians in same venue, demoted two to reserve status, and called up five. They also continued to not pick Anis ul Rahamn and Madhu.

Mohammed Fayas, Mohammed Ziyad, Mohammed Sanaz and Ayyup Padladka, allrounder Mohammed Rikaz and medium-pacer Mohammed Nazeer were dropped from the squad that played Last year with same oppenent. Mohammed Shuhaib and medium-pace allrounder Mohammed Roshan, who were also got  part series after selections.Mohammed Irshad and Malinga the new comming all-rounders also won there places.The selectors did not name vice-captain, but said their names would be "declared shortly". as skipper Dasthakir returns and remains same.

Dubai Zahirians With three wins in their previous four games in 2012, they are undoubtedly favourites, a concept so vital to most sporting contests, but considered taboo in the short format games. They have earned the tag, and not just through the belligerence of Mohammed Siraj. Mohammed Imran and Mohammed Rafeek have been consistent, mohammed Dasthakir has been effective in his unassuming manner, Mohammed Hillal has shown glimpses of his abilities and, perhaps, most importantly they've been relatively safe with their catching in the past tournaments plagued by poor fielding.

The zahirians selectors will also be watching closely. There is a long season ahead and a pool of reserve talent will come in handy. At least one of will be appearing in Siraj with a replacement needed for at No. 1, while there is also a batting vacancy due to Mohammed Izzath's and Mohammed Shamil's Vacation.Dubai Zahirians had announced their squad on Thursday, a day ahead of the series extended deadline for naming the 14. Nazeer Call back on last moment for Replacing Shamil

The former Captain Mohammed Nazeer was named in the short format squad as the backup for the new limited-overs No.1 Mohammed Shamil. The inclusion of Nazeer were the major changes from the squad taking part 2nd March 2012 in the North Idian CC Series, and there was no room in the attack for any others.

when his captain's last time in wonderlad park against RSS SC in 2009 Nazeer narrowly failed to earn the title, and even no body expect that its is the last match for him as a captain. and the DZCC selector Mohammed Farman said Nazeer would also be in contention for a place in the squad because i know his strenth.i think he is a right man to replace a player like shamil.

Mohammed Nazeer played his last game in WLP 2011 and he fail to scored but he had ball well on that time.maybe which was the reson that DZCC selectors have choose Nazeer first. "I have been working hard over the last couple of months," Nazeer told the DZCC official page. "The selectors said that I haven't been getting runs but so far I scored runs in the middle and few wickets too I have just waiting for a call and now i earn what i want"

 Nazeer was the third-highest run scorer for Hotels in the Dubai Regional four-day competition, making 460 runs, at an average of 41.81 with two half century's from eight games. He was also the leading wicket taker for Raffals in the competition with 11 to his name."Nazeer said he had viewed his batting footage from when he was in form and was working on a few things that had helped him. "I am missing it a bit [playing for the Zahirians], but I am just waiting and using my time wisely and when I get the opportunity,now i got, hopefully, I can play for the next one or two years straight."

DZCC's spirit is good in 2012

Everyone has been keen. The enthusiasm to practise … just the overall energy around the squad has been really good. Obviously, it's a great with the results of starting 2012 we have had so far. And yeah, we'd like to do better. and, overall, in terms of the spirit, it's been pretty good."

. "I was really disappointed to play the shot I did on 48 in last game. It still gives me nightmares sometimes. It's always nice to come and play in these conditions. It's like an home team coming and playing on a rank turner in Dubai, and winning a match in the starting of the year. We would like to do the same thing again in this all year."

Zahirians skipper Mohammed Dasthakir said Shamil needed to focus on prolonging his career. "I still believe Shamil has much to contribute both in terms of playing and batting input - you simply can't replace that quality and experience in place of sanas he has," said Dastha. "I'd like for him to concentrate now on getting back to full fitness, playing and enjoying his cricket for as long as he can. He's been a colossus for Zahirians cricket."

 Mohammed Shamil is keen to continue in a senior role for dubai Zahirians. "I enjoy the extra responsibility and it takes your involvement to a new dimension as you're always thinking of the next move," said Shamil, who has scored 433 short format runs at 33.20 in last 12 games. "I've been fortunate to play under both Dastha and Sanaz's captaincy during my one year in the squad. It's been a golden age for Zahirians cricket with some memorable wins. I'm close friend with Siraj and I'm confident we'll forge an excellent partnership."

After winning the toss in 1st match DZCC put LANKANS to bat first, The slow pitch and the design of the pitch, with its short square-boundaries, dictated the style of play. The new ball and seamers controlled well indeed to LANKANS in 12 overs just 77/6. Hillal's 3 wickets over was higlight for one run removing three top order batsmans in forth over of the game.in the chase shamil made his name again in dubai zahirians how he important in team card.scored 48 in just 26 balls.

In second Match DZCC pulled to bat first with Blasting start and power pack top order batsmans Izzath, Siraj, hillal, Shamil and dasthakir indeed new ball users of LANKANS not in good controlled  39 in first two overs. after Dasthakir, Shuhaib and Ayyub able to make a good accelarate and put 163/5 in just 10 overs.and this is the highest total score for zahirians in 10 overs short format games ever.the LANKANS openers started sloppy slow start and the opening bowling pair Izzath and Hillal for DZCC did some good jobs for controlled the lankans from big hits even sigles are difficale to made on the time.end of the day its not enough to won the sigle match or series for LANKANS SC.

The Big Picture

Dubai Zahirians haven't won their previous two home series, but a failure to close out this one will cause the most criticism. While the other contests were against teams near the top of the rankings, this one is against a side that was struggling to find its feet in UAE cricket. A series that was expected to be all one-way traffic is now level at both teams view, with DZCC having already achieved their pre-tour ambition of winning a Series in out side the home.

After basking in one of their greatest victories, Zahirians have now scaled up their goal to a series win in Jafliya against Lankans SC. The last success came about through significant contributions from many of their players - Mohammed Hillal and Mohammed Izzath making good contribution.That's something they need to repeat in Jafliya if they are to pose a challenge to Lankans Sc, who remain favourites despite the Jafliya's debacle.

Skipper Dasthakir said that, ''Obviously his workload over the past two years has been a lot higher - he's played for Zahirians, he's played some cricket in YBC (indian Club) as well - but he's been good considering the workload he's had,"  Roshan is hoping he can be join for the start of the March 2011, although that might be a little too ambitious.
