Big Picture
The task is straightforward for Dubai Zahirians. They have to win this game to secure a berth in the playoffs. Why it has come down to a last-minute scramble to make the final four for a team that possesses the likes of Faris, Haithar, Rilwan, Imran, Fasir and Hillal is a bit baffling. It shows how unpredictable this edition of the league has been. Here, they will be up against the First-placed Karachi Tigers, who have to play for except to keep no1 possition on the table in playoff's.Zahirians terminated Punjab Cricket Club copule of days ago and cut off the chances of progressing with a clinical win in Wonderland.

Dubai Zahirians haven't won their previous home series, but a failure to close out this one will cause the most criticism. While the other contests were against teams near the top of the rankings, this one is against a side that was struggling to find its feet in UAE cricket. A series that was expected to be all one-way traffic is now level at both teams view, with DZCC having already achieved their pre-tour ambition of winning a Series in out side the home.

Haithar Pulls out from DZCC

Mohammed Haithar the former Dubai Zahirians all-rounder pulls out from Dubai Zahirinas Cricket Club yesterday, Haithar had been under the scanner of the DZCB's integrity committee and ultimately appears to have failed to gain clearance for selection. zahirians cricket board said that haithar has been linked with specific incident though he features regularly in the fevered speculation and gossip of Zahirians's cricket structure.

"We are satisfied that we have selected the best squad from amongst the available players," chief selector Mohammed Farman said. "There is a lot of speculation in the club regarding clearance or otherwise of players by integrity committee of DZCB. The integrity committee has given its views on some players to the selection committee which has taken into consideration that input and has selected the players for the new sesson of 2011."

Mohammed Dasthakir the Dubai Zahirians skipper said its very sad to left out a player like haithar but he is not sutable for club last few months.he have leftout the practice sessions and meetings. its hard to say better luck, however we have enough players for selection. recently faris also join again to club from his yearly vacation. i think the new team card for first match of year 2011 will be issued on thursday. and am happy to be countinue as leader.

Haithar to miss next game in Sharjah

Mohammed Haithar the Dubai Zahirians Valuble all-rounder, will not take part in next series in Sharjah against Colombo Lions in Veg Market ground on thursday and could miss the subsequent upcomming few series. The fast bowler and batsman has a "mild to moderate ankle sprain", said team selector Mohammed Anas.

Haithar, sustained the injury while fielding, after bowling just two overs in the triangular series-2010 He was taken off the park and had an ice pack applied to his right ankle immediately. "The players did the right thing by icing him quickly because he has had problems with his ankle in the past," he previously suffered an ankle injury in December 2009, when he fell on his ankle after bowling the first ball in a tour match against Shiba Riders in Nad-al-Shiba.The injury, according to club, has been diagnosed Grade One or Two but a more thorough conclusion will be reached on Wednesday. Haithar will undergo a scan in Satwa, where the squad will be preparing for the series against Colombo Lions, which starts on October 28.

"He is going to stay with the team, although we expect him to be out for 7 to 10 days, which means he may miss the two matches against Colombo Lions,"anas said, Should that happen it would leave Dubai Zahirans without their two premier strike bowlers, since Ziyad is still recovering from concussion and swelling on the lower back, He said more the idea is to have both bowlers fit in time to play soon as possible.Mohammed Fasir is the most likely candidate to replace Haithar in Sharjah starting eleven.

'My style is my strength' - Mohammed Haithar

Mohammed Haithar has revealed that he has no intentions of changing his aggressive style of play, irrespective of the odd failure.

"When I play a cover-drive, I play it to score runs. I don't play a shot to get out. So, if the cover-drive ends up in a catch at any where, I am spared criticism. If it ends up in the hands at covers, I am slammed. The shot attempted has remained the same, only the mode of dismissal is different," Haithar told the Officical Site.

"My style is my strength. It is my natural game. That is how I grew up and scored most of my runs. I have matured in my shot selection but will not discard my style. I don't believe in wasting balls," Haithar said.

Haithar thanked the Dubai zahirians captains he has played under for their backing over the year. "I have been lucky to receive encouragement from all my captains [Mohammed Nazeer, Mohammed Razee and Mohammed Dasthakir]. They have always insisted on having me in the team and that means a lot to me."While he has scored runs at a fast clip - with strike-rates of 160.87 per 100 balls in Short Format, and 121.51 in T-20 - Haithar admitted that he has become more patient of late. "Sort of patient. Actually, I have become careful in my shot selection. I am neither over-defensive nor extra-aggressive.

Bowling attacks have tried to work him out over the year, by denying him room outside the off stump, and by bowling short, into his body, but Haithar has managed to find ways to score. "It is a mind game and I am good at it. I create shots to beat the field. Run-making has become tough,". Haithar said he was aware of the thin line separating success and failure, and it boiled down to how one chose to look at things. "Half empty or half full. A cover-drive for four or disaster. Praise will come when you do well. So, be prepared for brickbats when you fail. You are learning from both. Success prepares me well for the failures," he said.
